A Richly Illustrated Lecture by Pedro Joaquin Mendoza Miranda
The Lay Committee on Contemporary Spiritual-&-Public Concerns (the “CSPC Committee”) of St. Paul Parish, Cambridge, in Harvard Square, will hold the eleventh lecture of its current series on Friday, February 6, 2009, 7:30-9:00 p.m. Architect and St. Paul parishioner Pedro Joaquin Mendoza Miranda will speak on “Light in Architecture: Preliminary Thoughts on 21st-Century Churches.” The event will be held at St. Paul Parish, 29 Mount Auburn Street, Cambridge, MA. A reception will follow.
Mr. Mendoza, an expert on contemporary architecture, studied at Monterrey Tech (Tecnológico de Monterrey), Monterrey, Mexico, where he earned a five-year Professional degree in Architecture (1998-2003) and a Specialty degree in Construction Management (2002-2003). He has been honored with two awards at Monterrey Tech: the Drama Festival Award given by the Department of Cultural Events (2003) and an office building design award given by the Department of Architecture, in which he was named a finalist (2002). Mr. Mendoza has worked in several capacities in the field of architecture: most recently with McManus Architects, Cambridge, MA, where he built a model for the renovation project at the New England Aquarium (Summer 2008); as Autocad Assistant at Harvard School of Design, Harvard University (2007-2008), where he continues to work part-time; as Account Manager for Archpartners Corporation, Boston, MA (2007); as Assistant Designer for Littlewolf Architecture, Great Barrington, MA (2006-2007); and in Project Consulting, Design and Management, Managua, Nicaragua (2003-2006). Mr. Mendoza’s current independent projects include a house he is building in Portland, OR (www.14parcels.com, Parcel #14) and a land development in Nicaragua, which he is planning to start this year.
